WIVES: Women of Strength

Excerpts from "The Women's Study Bible"

Being a godly wife begins with the right priorities--nourishing your personal relationship with God (Matt. 6:33), ministering to your husband (Prov. 18:22; 19:14), nurturing your children (2Tim 1:5), keeping your home (Titus 2:5), then adding whatever other activities time and energy permit (Prov. 31:10-31).

How easy is that? I don't know about you but I need to be daily reminded that my first priority after God is my home - don't care what society says, or work demands, that God requires.

AN AWESOME GOD

You ever have those days, weeks, when you feel that you can't go on another minute. There are so many things, persons, demanding a piece of you, a piece of your time? The last few days have been that for me. And the enemy seems to use the home to just create greater frustration and helplessness. But what he does not realize, is that for those of who believe, this only drives us to our knees, to the source of our strength and our hope.

Ladies there is such a peace when we talk to the Father and we truly turn over to Him every care, every concern knowing that He does all things well and that there is nothing to big for Him, nothing impossible for Him, nothing He does not care about that concerns us.

In my devotions to night I was reminded that in those moments when you are feeling overwhelmed you are to:

1. Do your best to pray. If you feel you can't pray, just assume the posture of prayer and just begin thanking God and adoring Him. (I always feel better).
2. Watch your heart - don't worry about the words, just share your heart with the creator, He knows it already.

"Just like a plant with its roots hidden underground, you and I--out of public view and alone with God--are to draw from Him all that we need to live the abundant life. He has promised His children."

"Proverbs 31"

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband safely trust her; so he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands.
She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar.
She arises while it is yet night and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants.
She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms.
She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night.
She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet.
She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants.
Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.
She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.
Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Birth of New P31 Lady

Yesterday, while struggling to regain my physical and emotional strength, I had an ah, ah moment. I received in my spirit, what I believe to be a answer to prayer, the seed I was looking for. What do I exist to do, to be? It came to me clearly. I am hear to help other women realize the greatness within. To understand that none of us are perfect. We all have our failings. But we all have what it takes within us to be a Proverbs 31 Lady.

So often I feel that I do not have anything to share. And then I am reminded by some lady, some young girl, that I do --- just by being me, and by doing what I do. My sister Laurel and I always joke that it is not easy to find women who can balance family, work, social life, business, and personal development and make it all look easy. But many women do. It is something we have taken for granted as we have had the very best role model in how to do just that. This balance is what we read about in Proverbs 31. But how do we make that woman real today? How do we help the many women who feel that they cannot balance it all?

This is what I know God has called me to do --- to share with women that they can balance it all. It first starts by just being you. Being honest with who you are, where you are, and what you want in life.

I have asked my sister and best friend, to partner with me in giving birth and life to what God has planted in my spirit.

I am now seeking to find 29 other ladies to join us for a total of 31 Ladies.

Stay tuned for more.
